The Christmas Shoe Project was carried out as part of our continuous efforts to support vulnerable communities. This initiative was a follow-up to the 16 Days of Activism advocacy visit to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Area One, where we listened to the stories of women who had been victims of gender-based violence. The Christmas Shoe Project was designed to offer practical support and spread love during the festive season.
Objectives
To bring comfort and relief to displaced families during the Christmas season.
To distribute shoes to ease their daily movement and challenges.
To strengthen our commitment to standing with and supporting IDPs.
To demonstrate the spirit of kindness and community solidarity.
Activities
On the day of the outreach, our team visited the IDP camp in Area One with a heart of service. The following activities were carried out:
Distribution of 100 pairs of shoes to children, women, and men to help ease their journey.
Provision of light refreshments, shared among the camp residents, to brighten their day and foster a sense of celebration.
Engagement with camp residents through conversations and shared moments of joy, reaffirming our pledge to walk alongside them.
Outcomes/Impact
100 beneficiaries received new shoes, providing them with comfort and dignity.
The project fostered hope and joy among the camp residents during the Christmas season.
Strengthened relationships with the IDP community, building on our earlier advocacy efforts.
Reinforced the message of kindness, community, and solidarity in action.
Next Steps
Continue periodic outreach visits to the IDP camp to provide both relief materials and psychosocial support.
Explore sustainable interventions such as vocational training and education support for IDP families.
Strengthen advocacy efforts to ensure the voices of displaced persons, especially women and children, continue to be heard.
Conclusion
The Christmas Shoe Project was more than just an outreach; it was an expression of love, empathy, and shared humanity. By distributing 100 shoes and refreshments, we not only eased physical burdens but also reignited hope in the hearts of many.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to uplifting and empowering displaced communities. Together, we can make a lasting impact.
