As part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the Christian Center for Missions, Family and Leadership Development (CEMFLED) actively participated in the Gender Justice Advocacy Walk held in Abuja last year.
The walk commenced at the National Assembly and concluded at the Office of the Inspector General of Police, bringing together faith leaders, civil society groups, youth organizations, and advocates to demand an end to all forms of violence and injustice against women and girls in Nigeria.
CEMFLED joined in solidarity with partners such as the Student Christian Movement of Nigeria (SCM Nigeria), Priest Peace and Justice Initiative (PPJ), and the Side by Side Movement, carrying placards, chanting solidarity messages, and calling for urgent policy and institutional reforms to protect women and girls.
In addition to the walk, the CEMFLED team visited the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Area 1, Abuja, where they listened to heartbreaking testimonies from women who have been victims of gender-based violence. Many shared stories of abuse, exploitation, and the daily struggles they face in displacement.
CEMFLED pledged its support and assistance in every possible way, reaffirming its commitment to advocate for and work towards a society where women and girls can live in safety, dignity, and equality.
Through these actions, CEMFLED continues to demonstrate its dedication to advancing gender justice and championing the rights of the most vulnerable.
